Vote No; not sure why cochairs elected would decide by "mutual agreement" which term to serve...couldn't it be announced at election two-year and one-year ofrfices? Peace, Kirit

Consensus on the Proposal to Amend GPVA Bylaws, 
Article XIV, Officers, Section C 
, has not been achieved. Therefore the proposal, which was 
posted in final form to this list on November 26, 2012, will be scheduled for a 
vote to commence at 12:01 a.m. EST on December 27 and end at 11:59 p.m. EST on 
December 30. 
The changes from the original proposal forwarded to this list 
on November 20, 2012 are in CAPS. Please cast your vote for or against the 
proposal by replying to this email.

SUBJECT/TITLE: Proposal to Amend 
GPVA Bylaws, Article XIV, Officers, Section 
C
 
BACKGROUND:
 
Concern has been expressed within GPVA 
about a lack of rotation among officers, especially the Co-chairs. THIS PROPOSAL 
STAGGERS THE ELECTIONS OF GPVA CO-CHAIRS, AND LIMITS TO TWO THE NUMBER OF TERMS 
WHICH A CO-CHAIR MAY SERVE CONSECUTIVELY. 


 
THIS PROPOSAL WILL 
ALLOW EACH OF THE CURRENT CO-CHAIRS TO RUN FOR ANOTHER TERM. FOLLOWING ADOPTION OF THIS PROPOSAL, 
THE TERM OF ONE OF THE ELECTED CO-CHAIRS WILL BE SET AT ONE YEAR, AND THE TERM 
OF THE OTHER ELECTED CO-CHAIR WILL BE SET AT TWO YEARS. 
THE CO-CHAIRS ELECT 
WILL DECIDE BY MUTUAL AGREEMENT WHICH TERM TO SERVE.
 
PROPOSAL
Substitute Section XIV.C of 
GPVA Bylaws which currently states: 
 
"C. Each Officer shall be 
elected for a term of one year." 
 
with the following 
language:
 
"C. The Officers shall be elected as 
follows:
 
"1. The Treasurer, Press Secretary and Webmaster shall be 
elected to a term of one year each.
 
"2. The Co-chairs shall be 
elected to a term of two years each.
 
"a. The election of the 
Co-chairs shall be staggered by one year.
"b. 
THE CO-CHAIRS SHALL BE ELIGIBLE TO SERVE NO MORE THAN TWO TERMS 
CONSECUTIVELY."
