Here is the status of rcv in virginia.  Hb553 is not going to make it to 
the Senate in time but another bill which applies to elections in 
Arlington could make it through this year.

    Yesterday was action packed.

      * *Virginia’s statewide ranked choice bill passed committee with
        unanimous support* — a testament to the broad coalition that
        we've built.

      * *Arlington County’s bill also passed committee.* The full House
        votes Monday, so FairVoters across Virginia should call
        in Monday morning to support HB932

    The bad news?

      * The Board of Elections revised its cost estimate for permitting
        local RCV statewide. That means the statewide bill got sent to
        Appropriations and was tabled for the afternoon. Since the
        House/Senate crossover starts Tuesday, any House bill that
        doesn’t get a full floor vote on Monday can’t make it to the
        Senate. *In short, the statewide bill is dead for this year.*

    What does that mean for us?

      * *We're throwing all our weight behind Arlington’s bill.* They’ll
        be a perfect pilot site for Virginia. Call in Monday to send
        HB932 to the Senate.

    Though we'd surely hoped for more, we have so much to celebrate.
    Thanks to your efforts, we rallied a bipartisan, unanimous vote for
    ranked choice legislation and attracted hundreds of supporters in
    the last month alone.
